With Spring Bank Holiday and half-term soon upon us, a stay at Moortown Lodge offers the ideal opportunity to explore the most extensive heathland in Europe, famous for its free-roaming ponies and cattle, and take part in a range of local activities and events:

Roaming through Rhododendrons

On 2nd May a guided walk through the rhododendrons is taking place at Exbury Gardens, a 40 minute drive away. Typically at their most colourful in May, the Gardens are ablaze with rhododendrons and evergreen azaleas, making for a spectacular 2 hour tour.

Spring Autojumble

The world renowned, Beaulieu Autojumbles are a must for every motoring enthusiast, and the Spring Autojumble takes place on 16th and 17th May. Under 40 minutes drive from Moortown Lodge, entry gains you access to all that the attraction offers, including the National Motor Museum, Palace House, Beaulieu Abbey and World of Top Gear, making it a great time to visit.

Walking Picnics

Just a 16 minute drive away in Frogham, Nigel and Christine invite you to come and explore the New Forest with Walking Picnics, leading you on a guided nature walk through the forest lasting around 2 hours, flagging up the amazing wildlife and history, with a home-produced gourmet picnic to follow. Children are welcome too. Walks are confirmed for a range of dates in May.

Wheels Festival in Bournemouth

From 29th – 31st May, just a 20 minute drive from Moortown Lodge in Bournemouth, you’ll find more than a renowned seaside resort. Britain’s biggest FREE wheels themed family event will be taking place, featuring a range of vehicles, from beautiful historic and classic cars to world class BMX stunts, Monster Truck parades and supercars.

Longdown Vintage Car Rally

On 30th and 31st May, the New Forest Vintage Tractor and Engine Club will be bringing their fantastic exhibits to Longdown Farm, giving visitors a glimpse of days gone by. There will be lots for children to see and do including bumpy tractor rides, miniature steam engine rides and the fabulous tractor v children tug of war.
